-
- We're doing full custom ASICs (1um CMOS) in our research project.
- This one was 12mm2 with around 8000 transistors, mostly full adders,
- inverters and shift registers. Very simple stuff, but we hope to run it at
- something like 300-400MHz.

-
- The speed was very good IMO. I think I had 3-4fps at the start of the first
- level in the ShareWare WAD, at 320x200.
-
- As I think Laurent said somewhere in the documentation, the scaling is only
- done correctly in the y-direction, but that isn't too bad.
-
- The current BAD MOOD engine doesn't give the information necessary to
- start drawing from within a texture (unless Doug put something in there I
- haven't seen), which causes some funny looking effects when you move around.
-
- As a first step it was quite impressive, I think.

-
- It seems like every time a new WAD loader shows up there are problems
- with a lot of WADs.
-
- First there was the one I converted, which wasn't happy with too large
- segments at first.
- Then there was Dave's, which at first didn't like WADs with too many segments
- before the level data.
- And now Laurent's extensions to Dave's loader, which looks for segments
- that don't seem to be universally available.
-
- It might be a good idea to put together a pool of troublesome WADs, but
- then again there might not be many more updates to the loader.
